This very unique 124 year old cast iron toy gun named "MAGAZINE" is in "C7" to "C8" condition with absolutely no cracks, chipping, repairs or modifications. The main spring is tight and the wonderful surface patina reflects great care over the years.
NOTE: The front keeper spring is intact and not broken off as so often the case. While this child's toy is listed in all traditional and histoticial cap gun literature, it is actually a very rare multi shot, double action harmless pea shooter.
This toy gun is a fine example of an American Heritage child's cast iron toy and was manufactured just 27 years after the end of the Civil War in America. It would make an interesting conversation piece on a fire place mantel or framed and hung on the wall as decorative historical art.This "Three Star" "MAGAZINE" cast iron toy gun is about 7 long and well documented. It is referenced on page 90 of "Cast Iron Toy Guns and Capshooters" by Logan and Best as M2.1. Additionally, this toy gun is referenced on page 94/95 as M2 in the book "Cast Iron Toy Pistols" by Charles Best. RULES WE MUST LIVE BY.
