In this listing we are offering a pleasing & attractive cast iron "VICTOR" toy cap gun pistol. The grip has two flower-like decorations & checkered cross-hatching in the castings. Each side of the toy has the word "VICTOR" raised in the casting.

This toy cap pistol was made by the J. Stevens Toy Company of Cromwell, Connecticut circa 1880 or so.

An example of this toy cap pistol is listed & shown on pages 152/153 in the 1973 edition of the classic reference "Cast Iron Toy Pistols" by Charles Best. The example we are offering is complete & in sound operational condition. There are no cracks, no chips, no missing components, & no repairs. The length is 5 1/2 inches & the weight is 4.0 ounces. The example we are offering is the nickel plated version which originally cost a tiny bit more than varnish finish when issued.

This piece is much harder to find in the nickel plated finish than it is the standard version which was finished with transparent dark brown varnish or with black varnish. The majority of the original nickel plating is still present. But, there are some areas of plating loss & oxidation to the iron where the plating has worn off from use.

This item is inventory #11,457. This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug. This antique TOY cap pistol was NOT made to fire a projectile & it CANNOT be altered to fire bullets, or ammunition, or lethal projectiles of any kind.

All of the pictures in this listing have been taken & uploaded by me & are NOT stock photos. This antique TOY cap pistol is shown as a whole in its entirety in several different views.
