In this listing we are offering a pleasing & attractive "BUFFALO BILL" cast iron toy cap pistol gun. This toy cap pistol was made circa 1890 by the J. Stevens Toy Company of Cromwell, Connecticut. An example is listed & shown on pages 38/39 & is numbered B36 in the 1973 classic reference book "Cast Iron Toy Pistols" by Charles Best. There is minor surface wear to the finish & there are some light surface areas of oxidation & there is some surface rust in the cap box.
The pistol still retains the major majority of the all original dark brown transparent finish which has developed a wonderful patina & rich luster. An all original example with no chips, no cracks, & no repairs. This is an excellent condition example, which is well above the condition of examples usually found, & it is in sound working order. This beautifully designed toy cap pistol is an impressive 11 3/4 inches long & has a weight of 11 ounces. A welcome addition to any iron toy cap pistol collection. This item is inventory #11,444. This replica gun contains the colored markings required by law, including a permanently attached orange plug. This antique TOY cap pistol was NOT made to fire a projectile & it CANNOT be altered to fire bullets, or ammunition, or lethal projectiles of any kind.
