Circa 1920 German Tin Plate & Composite Märklin British WW1 Gun Train The set consists of two composite horses pulling a limbered cart and field gun. On the wagon sits a composite British soldier with another on one of the horses, both have pegged bases. The horses are attached to the carriage by string.

The horses are mounted onto a wooden base with wheels and axles between the two bases. The field gun has a pull back spring action and is stamped Märklin Germany.

GmbH or Märklin is a German toy company. The company was founded in 1859. Although it originally specialised in doll house accessories, today it is best known for model railways and technical toys.

Dimensions The set has a total length of 14.5 inches (38 cm). The horses & wagon have a length of 8 inches (20.3 cm), a width of 3.5 inches (9 cm) and a height of 5.5 inches (14 cm). The gun has a length of 5.5 inches (14 cm), a width of 4 inches (10.2 cm) and a height of 3.5 inches (9 cm). The set weighs 428 g. Condition The metal is fairly worn in places, with some chipping to the paint and general corrosion. One of the wire mounts on the lower edge of the wagon is missing; the wire has been strung through a hole on the right side of the base. The figures are generally complete with cracks to some of horses legs and on the brim of the soldiers helmet. The left wheel is off its hub but still on the axle.
